Edwards Lookout Walk
Take this short walk to Edwards Lookout and you will be rewarded with extensive views up the Kauaeranga Valley.
It’s a satisfying walk through mānuka-towhai forest that leads up to a rocky outcrop, a favourite spot for local abseilers and a great place to sit at the handy bench seat atop the peak.
If you’re lucky, there might be some abseilers on the day you go, and you can sit and enjoy watching their adventures on the rockfaces.
The view you are greeted with is a 180-degree view looking up the Kauaeranga Valley, overlooking the river and Booms Campsite up into the hills. It’s a great place to sit and ponder for a good while, before heading back down to the car.
According to AllTrails, at night you can see glow worms just off the track, but we haven’t verified that – yet!
As this walk is under an hour – some people do it in 30 minutes return – it works well with other short walks up the valley, like Murray’s Walk.
