This day is an important annual community event where we come together as the Indian and Punjabi community, alongside our Thames whānau and visitors passing through the region, to honour the Shaheedi (martyrdom) of the Chaar Sahibzaade and Mata Gujri Ji (the Four Sons and the mother of the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji). It is a day of unity, courage, remembrance, and community connection.

We will be honoured to share a rich cultural programme with the community, including:

Sikh martial arts (Gatka) performed by the Akal Khalsa group, travelling from Auckland

A free Turban-Tying Camp that celebrates Sikh identity and cultural pride

Free food and drinks available for whānau throughout the day as an act of Seva (selfless service)
